Pablo H.: "I have great affection for Valencia CF, and it will be a special match"

Pablo Hernández came through the youth academies of Valencia CF and CD Castellón. Born in Onda, he spent four seasons with Valencia CF’s first team (2008–2012), making 200 appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 34 assists. In 2009, he was also called up to the Spain national team for the FIFA Confederations Cup. He is currently the head coach of the Castellón side.

Today, he was the featured guest on L'Informatiu on VCF Media Radio, where he spoke about the upcoming friendly match between the two clubs.

“It’s a special place. I spent many years at the VCF Academy and then with the first team. I came back last pre-season with CD Castellón’s reserve team, and this year I’m returning with the first team. It’s going to be a special match.”

Advice for the young players joining the first team for pre-season

“Enjoy the experience and make the most of the opportunity. It’s a reward because if they’re there, it’s because they’ve earned it and the club believes in them. They shouldn’t feel nervous or try to prove more than they can. They just need to be themselves, and I’m sure the experience will help them in the future.”

Reuniting with Carlos Corberán after their time at Leeds United FC

“I know him very well. We speak often and stay in close contact. I’m also pleased to be reunited with him after our time together at Leeds United, when he was Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant and I was a player. We built a great relationship and spent a lot of time talking about the game and football.”
